Japanese Genmai Cha is a rich, aromatic blend of tea leaves and roasted rice, which give a nutty fragrance. It is sometimes referred to as "popcorn tea" because a few grains of the rice pop during the roasting process and resemble popcorn. Japanese Genmai Cha is deep-steamed, giving the cup a deep body and rich green hue. Genmai Cha is one of Japan's most popular varieties and is referred to as "the people's tea".
